Which roles does baby delivery require in Maple Hospital?
Baby delivery in Maple Hospital is a team activity in most cases. The L&D Nurse handles physical setup, equipment management, and postpartum care. The Doctor is locked in for the dilation checks and APGAR assessment, these interactions do not appear for other roles.
| Role | Key tasks in delivery | Unlock level | Best for | Not ideal for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| L&D Nurse | Monitor, equipment prep, coaching pushes, cord cut, postpartum | ~Level 25 (Nurse L&D spec) | Players who want to manage the full delivery flow | Players who haven't unlocked the L&D specialization yet |
| Doctor | Dilation checks (x3), epidural order, APGAR assessment | Level 10 | Players with a team L&D Nurse covering equipment steps | Solo play, dilation and APGAR are Doctor-gated |
| Anesthesiologist | Epidural administration (active labor phase) | Doctor specialization path | Active-labor pain relief on servers with high patient volume | Players who skip the optional epidural step |
| Pediatric / NICU Nurse | NICU handoff if APGAR is low, newborn warmer transfer | Nurse Pediatric spec (~Level 15) | Covering the newborn side when the main Nurse is busy with the mother | Players without the pediatric specialization unlocked |
Community notes on baby delivery
Common mistakes and observations from the Maple Hospital Discord and Reddit threads.
“The receiving blanket has to be in your actual inventory or the baby just drops and the case resets. Grab it from the delivery cart before the final push.”
Inventory management at delivery is the #1 trip-up for first-time L&D players. The game does not auto-give you the blanket.
“Pushing at the wrong time wastes the contraction, you need to wait for the green bar peak, not just spam the interaction.”
The push coaching window is narrow. Players who rush the interaction off-peak add 1-2 extra contraction cycles to the case.
“If you skip the postpartum vitals check the discharge button just never activates. Learned this after sitting there for 10 minutes wondering why nothing was happening.”
Postpartum steps are hidden XP, they look optional but they gate the discharge interaction and the case completion bonus.
L&D baby delivery vs NICU: which pays more XP?
Both departments handle newborns, but they serve different player goals. L&D is for the birth sequence itself; NICU picks up when the newborn needs specialist care after delivery. Some deliveries connect directly into NICU if the APGAR score is low.
| Metric | L&D Baby Delivery | NICU |
|---|---|---|
| Total XP (full case) | 180-220 XP (all phases) | 50-75 XP (per case type) |
| Time per case | ~20-30 min (5 phases) | ~3-4 min (6 steps) |
| Team required | L&D Nurse + Doctor minimum | Nurse + Doctor (most cases) |
| Instant-fail risk | Moderate (push timing, blanket inventory) | High (2 instant-fail triggers) |
| Connects to other departments | Yes, NICU (low APGAR) | Receives from L&D |
| Best for | Long-session deep roleplay, high total case payout | Fast case turnover, team XP |

How this guide was built
The step sequences in this guide are drawn from community Discord threads, Reddit posts, and YouTube gameplay walkthroughs for Maple Hospital L&D. We have not personally completed every phase of the baby delivery case in the current build, steps involving specific XP numbers, equipment spawn locations, and level unlock requirements are based on player-reported data and may not reflect the latest update. Where we are uncertain, we note “community reports” or “approximately.” Maple Hospital updates frequently, verify steps against your in-game session.
If you spot an error or a step that has changed, the information in this guide should be treated as a starting framework rather than a guaranteed sequence.
